Take Time to Smell the Roses...

The all encompassing nature of cancer can take us away from everything meaningful in our life if we let it. The focus from what we want to be doing and what we have to be doing to treat our cancer sometimes doesn't leave room for anything else. It is so important to not forget all of the things that bring you joy, because they can be part of your healing.

  • Take a walk with a friend
  • Read a book in the garden
  • Walk along the beach
  • Take a vacation if treatment permits
  • Spend time with animals, they can be so loving
  • Write in a journal
  • Take a gentle yoga class
  • Communicate your love and appreciation to those around you

Has your focus been on your cancer for so long that you have nothing else going on in your life that you enjoy?  Get back to it.  Include friends and family, so they can blow off steam and be part of the happy parts of your life.  No matter what your diagnosis, you have today, tomorrow and all the days in front of you...use them to bring you comfort and peace and those around you need that too.

Start today by making a list of the top 10 things you wish you were doing right now!  Some of them may not be feasible right this minute, but you can do a variation on the theme. What I am trying to communicate to you is you need to take the time to stop and smell the roses...
